Overview

Premium-Grade Copper Ingots from Electrowon Cathodes

United Metals specializes in advanced metallurgical processes to produce 99.97%+ purity copper ingots, optimized for high-performance industrial applications. Leveraging electrowinning (EW) technology and precision casting systems, our ingots meet global standards for conductivity, mechanical strength, and environmental compliance.

Copper is the backbone of modern infrastructure — prized for its unmatched electrical conductivity, thermal resistance, and ductility. Sourced from electrowon cathodes and refined using cutting-edge induction furnaces, United Metals' copper ingots are engineered for critical applications in electronics, energy, and advanced manufacturing.

Every ingot is produced under an LME Grade A compliant quality regime and delivered from origins in Zimbabwe and India, backed by audited conflict-free sourcing.

Methodology

Production Process

From electrowon cathode to finished ingot, every stage is governed by Industry 4.0 automation, real-time quality monitoring, and precision engineering.

01
Feed Preparation
Electrowinning of Cathodes
High-purity copper cathodes are produced via electrowinning (EW) from a purified copper sulfate electrolyte solution. Electrical current causes pure copper to deposit on stainless steel blanks. Cathodes are stripped, washed, and inspected — forming the premium feedstock for ingot production.
Cathode purity: 99.97–99.99% Cu
02
Melting
Induction Melting & Refining
Cathodes are charged into 10-ton medium-frequency induction furnaces operating at 1,100–1,150°C. The induction process ensures uniform heating with minimal oxidation. An argon degassing lance purges dissolved gases, eliminating porosity and maximising mechanical strength in the final ingot.
Furnace capacity: 10 MT · Argon degassed
03
Forming
Continuous Casting
Molten copper is cast using vertical continuous casting machines that draw the solidifying metal through water-cooled copper moulds at controlled speeds. This technique produces ingots with superior, consistent crystalline structure, surface finish, and dimensional tolerances compared to static casting methods.
Vertical casting · Water-cooled moulds · Mirror finish
04
Verification
Quality Assurance & Inspection
Every batch undergoes comprehensive quality inspection — XRF spectrometry for elemental analysis, dimensional verification, surface finish grading, and weight certification to ± 5% per ingot. Only lots passing all thresholds are released for palletisation and shipment. Full mill certificates accompany every delivery.
XRF analysis · Mill cert. · LME Grade A sign-off
05
Export
Palletisation & Dispatch
Finished ingots are securely stacked and strapped on export-grade pallets, shrink-wrapped to prevent handling damage and moisture ingress. Shipments depart from Zimbabwe and India, with full documentation — packing lists, CoO, mill certs — provided for seamless customs clearance globally.
